Commodities
Gold, silver, crude and the rest of the MCX board. A commodity has no single price the way a share does — it trades as five or six contracts at once, each with its own expiry — so what is quoted here is the front month: the contract the market is actually trading, followed forward and handed on to the next one as the volume moves. The day’s move is measured against that same contract’s previous close, so it is always a real move in a real thing.
