Bosch Q1 FY27: Revenue Up 22% to ₹5,842 Cr, a ₹9,024 Cr Chassis Acquisition, and Two JVs Still Waiting on Paperwork
At a glance
Bosch Limited makes vehicle parts — fuel injection systems, aftermarket spares — plus power tools and security equipment. Revenue from operations for the three months to June 2026 was ₹5,842 crore, against ₹4,789 crore in the same quarter a year earlier. That is a rise of 22.0%. The March quarter figure was ₹5,566 crore, so the sequential gain was 5.0%.
Operating profit was ₹821 crore against ₹639 crore a year ago. Net profit was ₹706 crore against ₹1,116 crore. The year-ago quarter carried an exceptional gain of ₹556 crore from selling a business. An exceptional gain is a one-off item that does not recur in normal trading.
The company completed a ₹9,024 crore purchase of Bosch Chassis Systems India on 1 July 2026. It signed a 50:50 joint venture with Tata AutoComp for e-axles. A second 50:50 venture, with Brakes India and Wheels India, covers commercial-vehicle air systems. The 74th annual general meeting was held on 11 August 2026, approving the FY26 accounts, a ₹270 final dividend and director appointments. Crisil, a credit-rating agency, gave the company an ESG score of 71.0.
By segment, automotive products contributed ₹5,234 crore of quarterly revenue. Consumer goods added ₹521 crore and Others ₹88 crore. Management flagged Power Solutions growth of 29.0%, two-wheeler at 41.4% and mobility aftermarket at 9.6%.
Full-year FY26 revenue was ₹20,035 crore, with profit after tax of ₹2,773 crore. The chassis business now gets bolted onto that base.
Introduction
Bosch has been making things in India since 1951, which makes the company older than most of the roads its products end up on. The Bosch Group owns 70.54% of it. That group is Robert Bosch GmbH and roughly 440 subsidiaries and regional companies across 60 countries.
The promoter stake has not moved across the twelve quarters of shareholding data on record. Change in promoter holding: 0.00%. Somewhere a compliance officer is having a quiet decade.
The last eighteen months have been busier. In FY26 the company sold its video solutions, access and intrusions, and communication systems business to Keenfinity India for ₹595 crore. It recognised a gain of ₹556 crore on that sale — the same ₹556 crore that now sits inside every year-on-year profit comparison.
On 8 April 2026 the board approved buying all of Bosch Chassis Systems India for up to ₹9,068.68 crore. Funding came partly from issuing 1,230 preferential shares at ₹35,200 each, with the balance in cash. A preferential share issue means new shares sold to a chosen buyer rather than the open market. Shareholders approved on 8 May. The deal closed on 1 July 2026 at a final consideration of ₹9,024 crore, including closing adjustments.
Two joint ventures were announced in the same stretch. March 2026 brought a 50:50 arrangement with Tata AutoComp for e-axles and e-motors, registered office Pune. Tata AutoComp provides administrative, supply-chain and operational support to that venture. May 2026 brought a 50:50 venture with Brakes India and Wheels India, both subsidiaries of the TSF Group. It covers commercial-vehicle air systems out of Chennai, with operations to commence by end-2026.
Management told the August 2026 call that merger-control approvals were still running for both ventures. It expects e-axle revenue by late next year, and asked for "a quarter" before discussing air-systems order books.
Business model
Bosch makes the parts of a vehicle that nobody photographs. The portfolio covers diesel and gasoline fuel injection systems, automotive aftermarket products, industrial equipment and electrical power tools. Security systems and energy products sit alongside them.
Mobility Solutions is the engine room. Powertrain Solutions serves electric vehicles, passenger cars, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers, among others. It spans both internal combustion engines and electrification, so the same division supplies the old technology and the new one. In FY26 power solutions grew around 18% and the two-wheeler business around 69%.
Automotive Aftermarket is the largest aftermarket chain in India. It runs as a multi-brand car service network and supplies independent repair shops with diagnostics, spare parts and repair solutions. It grew around 4% in FY26. Product launches in the three months to June 2026 included "Tulix" LED lighting and an 18-month heavy-duty commercial-vehicle battery called "Prithvi", plus passenger-car clutches and suspension. Naming a truck battery after the planet is a confidence level most component brands cannot access.
Consumer Goods supplies power tools, accessories and measuring technology. Customers run from professionals to the do-it-yourself market and amateur crafters — a list that includes a man who bought a cordless drill for one shelf in 2019. A dedicated Engineering Centre for Power Tools was set up at Chennai in FY24. The segment achieved around 16% growth over FY23.
Building Technology handles video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire detection and access control, for infrastructure and commercial customers. Energy and Building Solutions runs energy-efficiency projects aimed at cost saving and carbon dioxide reduction. It focuses on pharmaceuticals, fast-moving consumer goods and healthcare.
The FY26 revenue split was automotive products 88%, consumer goods 11% and Others 1%. Manufacturing runs from 18 facilities across 35 locations in India. The company does business in 35 states and 39 countries. Exports were around 8.3% of FY25 sales, and management described the current level as "high single-digit", about "8%… 8.5%".
