Fractal Analytics Q1 FY27: Revenue Up 20%, Profit Up ~98%, and One Vertical Down 22%

At a glance

Fractal Analytics sells analytics and artificial-intelligence work to large companies. Consolidated revenue for the three months to June 2026 was ₹912.5 crore, against ₹760.5 crore a year earlier. The three months to March 2026 had brought ₹886.3 crore. Management stated constant-currency growth was 9% against the year-earlier quarter and -0.4% against the previous one. Constant currency strips out movements in exchange rates. Operating profit was ₹119.5 crore, against ₹80.4 crore a year earlier. The March quarter had produced ₹173.0 crore. Net profit was ₹74.2 crore, against ₹37.5 crore a year earlier.

One vertical moved the other way. Revenue from technology, media and telecom clients fell 22% against a year earlier. Management described it as the company's worst performance and said it dragged down headline growth. Management added that growth excluding that vertical would have been 37%. Healthcare and life sciences grew 69% and is now the second-largest vertical. Banking, financial services and insurance grew 36%. Consumer packaged goods and retail, the largest vertical, grew 19%.

The balance sheet changed shape. Total assets were ₹4,407 crore at March 2026, against ₹2,802 crore a year earlier. Reserves rose from ₹1,750 crore to ₹3,168 crore. The company listed 31,523,948 shares in February 2026. Management stated long-term debt was repaid in full in April 2026 from the issue proceeds. Cash, including mutual funds and fixed deposits, was ₹1,637.8 crore at the end of June.

The market pays ₹41.40 for every ₹1 of yearly profit here. The industry figure is ₹22.10. Promoters hold 16.97%. A draft tax assessment order of ₹156.56 crore and a departing finance chief are also on the file.

Introduction

Fractal Analytics Ltd was incorporated in 2000. With its subsidiaries, it provides advanced analytics that help companies use data-driven insights. It offers AI-engineered solutions aimed at enterprise-level transformation. The company describes itself as a pure-play enterprise AI company. It says it serves over 100 Fortune 500-sized enterprises.

The listing is new. The initial public offering had two halves. A fresh issue of 11,408,394 shares raised ₹1,023.5 crore for the company. An offer for sale of 20,115,554 shares, by existing holders, aggregated ₹1,810.4 crore. The shares were listed on the NSE and the BSE on 16 February 2026. Two other events moved the share count before that. In July 2025 the company issued bonus shares in a one-for-four ratio. In January 2026 the board approved the conversion of compulsorily convertible preference shares. Those are shares that must turn into ordinary equity, and 22,618,020 equity shares went to their holders. Anyone comparing earnings per share across periods without all three events will build a confusing spreadsheet.

Recent filings have been dense. In March 2026 the board approved transferring the FAA, EdTech and Iqigai businesses to Analytics Vidhya Educon Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary. The transfer is on a slump-sale basis, meaning the business moves as one lot for one price. In July the effective date moved from 1 April to 1 May 2026. The consideration was revised from ₹10.9 crore to ₹11.6 crore. In March, Senseforth equity of ₹23.65 crore was extinguished, reducing that capital to ₹2.63 crore. In July 2026 the step-down subsidiary Fractal Frontiers Inc. was dissolved, effective 21 July. A step-down subsidiary is a subsidiary of a subsidiary. Ashwath Bhat resigned as chief financial officer and group chief financial officer, effective 24 July 2026. Management said the search for a successor had made progress, and did not disclose a name.

The consolidation net is wide. Twenty-five entities, plus one associate, Qure.ai, sit inside the reported numbers.

Business model

Fractal sells decisions rather than machines or licences in volume. They are delivered as consulting engagements to very large companies. Those companies hold a great deal of data and a persistent suspicion they are not using it.

The flagship product is Cogentiq, described as an agentic AI platform. It is for rapidly building and deploying AI products and solutions. Around it sit Cogentiq Business Insights, for conversational decision intelligence, and Cogentiq CX, for contact-centre optimisation. The latter carries modules for search, live call assist and coaching. Cogentiq Sales Assist is aimed at financial-services relationship managers who spend a lot of time preparing for meetings. Cogentiq Digital Commerce and Cogentiq Data Foundation complete that prefix. Kalaido.ai is a proprietary text-to-image diffusion model, and Trial Run is a business-experimentation package. One prefix does an enormous amount of load-bearing work in that catalogue.

The company reports in two segments. Fractal.ai is the services-and-solutions body, AI consulting built on engineering, design and domain expertise. It delivered ₹894.2 crore of revenue in the three months to June 2026. Fractal Alpha holds incubated and acquired intellectual property. That includes Asper.ai, Flyfish.ai, Analytics Vidhya and Theremin, and Eugenie sits there too. Alpha delivered ₹24.0 crore, with a segment result of negative ₹14.8 crore. In the year to March 2025 the split was roughly 98% Fractal.ai against 2% Alpha. Revenue that year was roughly 96% analytical services against 2% subscriptions and licence fees. Management stated licence revenue is around 3% of the total.

Management said clients want their knowledge to stay inside the enterprise, and want control over the AI.

The Fractal.ai revenue base is 67.4% Americas and 21.4% Europe. Asia-Pacific and others account for 11.2%. By industry, consumer packaged goods and retail is 37.8% and healthcare and life sciences 23.5%. Technology, media and telecom is 18.0%, and banking and financial services 13.0%. Others account for 7.7%. Headcount was 5,868 at March 2026, up from 5,254. Revenue per billable full-time employee — staff whose time is charged to clients — was ₹0.75 crore over the trailing twelve months. Management noted that was up 3% against a year earlier.
